Excluded from WBZ Senate Debate, Socialist Candidate Joe Tache to Rally Outside CBS Boston Studios on June 16

Socialist U.S. Senate candidate Joe Tache — the only candidate confirmed to be on the November ballot — will rally supporters outside the WBZ/CBS Boston studios at 1170 Soldiers Field Rd, Allston on Tuesday, June 16 at 6:30 PM, after being excluded from WBZ's cross-party Senate debate later that night. The rally follows a campaign organizing meeting on June 10 that drew supporters from across Massachusetts to escalate the pressure campaign on WBZ and the Moulton and Deaton campaigns. 

[Boston, MA] — Joe Tache is running for U.S. Senate as a socialist in 2026, and on Tuesday, June 16, his campaign will rally outside the WBZ/CBS Boston studios at 1170 Soldiers Field Rd in Allston at 6:30 PM — just hours before the station broadcasts a candidate debate from which Tache has been excluded. 

WBZ has billed the June 16 event as Massachusetts' "first-ever interparty primary debate," combining a Democratic primary candidate with the Republican nominee in a single forum. Tache, who is running as a candidate of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, is the only U.S. Senate candidate already confirmed for the November ballot. His campaign collected more than 20,000 signatures with all-volunteer canvassers in March and submitted the required 10,000 certified signatures to the State Elections Department. Sen. Ed Markey, Rep. Seth Moulton, and the rest of the Democratic primary field are still contesting nominations that will not be decided until September.

The rally was planned at a campaign organizing meeting on June 10, where supporters mapped out a pressure campaign demanding WBZ add Tache to the debate stage. Tache has asked supporters to pressure both the Moulton and Deaton campaigns to publicly support his inclusion.

The exclusion comes as support for socialism is reaching record highs in national polling. A Fox News poll released in March 2026 found that 38% of U.S. voters — a record share — want the country to move away from capitalism toward socialism, including 53% of voters under 30. A 2024 Harvard CAPS/Harris poll found that 71% of Americans believe third-party and independent candidates who clear a viable threshold should be included in debates.

"Seth Moulton and John Deaton are trying to keep our socialist Senate campaign off that stage, and WBZ is letting them," said Tache. "Even Fox News is finding record numbers of Americans who want an alternative to capitalism, and the voters of Massachusetts deserve to hear from the one Senate candidate offering one. I am the only candidate every Massachusetts voter is guaranteed to see on their ballot in November. If WBZ won't put me in the room, we'll bring the room to them."

The Tache campaign has been in contact with WBZ News Director Rob Cartwright since May 15, when Tache personally requested inclusion in the debate. On May 27, Tache also wrote directly to the Moulton and Deaton campaigns, asking each to agree to his participation on the grounds that "a debate serves voters best when it shows them the full set of choices they'll actually have." WBZ has not committed to adding Tache to the stage and has not provided written participation criteria. Neither Moulton nor Deaton has publicly responded to Tache's request.
