20k+ signatures in two weeks to get socialist on the ballot: celebration Thurs. at Crystal Ballroom

Hundreds of unpaid volunteers collected over 20,000 signatures in just two weeks to get socialist Senate candidate Joe Tache on the ballot in Massachusetts. To celebrate gaining ballot access, the campaign will host an event at the Crystal Ballroom in Somerville, Thu. April 9, 6-9PM, featuring local artists including Amanda Shea, The Foundation Movement, MaceyOMaze, and 2024 presidential candidate Claudia de la Cruz.

[Massachusetts] — Joe Tache is running for U.S. Senate as a socialist in 2026, and his volunteers have collected more than 20,000 signatures in just two weeks to get him on the ballot. Volunteers petitioned across the state from Cape Cod to Western Mass and throughout greater Boston. Unlike many other campaigns, this effort was accomplished with 100% volunteers. No one was paid to petition.

Mass. requires 10,000 verified signatures to gain ballot access, so the campaign set a goal of 20,000 in two weeks to make certain the 10k goal was met.

“I don’t think this has ever been done before, collecting this many signatures for a candidate in just two weeks. It’s truly inspiring to see what we were able to do in such a short time because of how strongly people believe in Joe, and believe in his message that we need something entirely new,” said campaign volunteer and Dorchester resident, Ki-Jana Carter.

Sounds of a Socialist Future: April 9, 6-9PM, Crystal Ballroom, SomervilleTo celebrate their achievement, Tache and the campaign will hold a cultural and political celebration at the Crystal Ballroom in Somerville, Thurs. April 9.

The show, called "Sounds of a Socialist Future," will include performances from renowned local poets Amanda Shea and Briana Crockett, and musicians MaceyOMaze, Foundation Movement, The Kid Kung Fu, Bishop Toussaint, Jabir and the OGs, and DJ LadyLy. Claudia de la Cruz, who ran for U.S. President on the Party for Socialism and Liberation ticket in 2024, will also speak at the event.

“Working with these poets and musicians has been an incredible experience. Artists are excited to be a part of this event because they’re excited about socialism and Joe’s platform. Some have created a song just for this campaign that will premiere at the show this Thursday!” said Micah Fong, who is the Artistic Director for the event.

The celebration is expected to sell out. Press who wish to cover the event can receive free entry with discount code: PRESS.

Light refreshments will be catered by Comfort Kitchen.
